Next Steps for your CVFC Application

Step 1: Schedule Your Interview and Confirm Your References

After you submit your application, you will be contacted by the membership committee to schedule an interview date. Once scheduled, if you need to reschedule or cancel prior to the interview date, please call 410-403-3538 or email [email protected].

You will be required to complete a drug test within 48 hours of the interview date. Do not schedule your interview unless you can complete this requirement. If you do not complete the test within the 48 hour time period, you will be ineligible for membership for 6 months. There are no extensions or other grace periods possible.

We will need to have at least 2 references on file prior to your interview. Please ensure the emails you provided were accurate and your references have completed their reference forms

Step 2: Attend your Interview

Attend your interview. Please try to arrive 10 minutes prior to your interview.

If you need to speak to someone while en route to your interview, please call 410-527-1634 and select option 9 to speak to someone at the station.

Cockeysville VFC makes every effort to ensure that members will be present for your interview; however, there is always a chance that we will have to respond to a 911 call. If this happens, your interview will begin as soon as members return and the equipment is ready to go back in service.[

Step 3: Drug and Background Check

Once your interview is complete, you will receive some paperwork.

• Drug Screen: You will have 48 hours to complete this. You can visit any Quest Diagnostics to complete this, but only Quest Diagnostics. You must make an appointment with Quest, as they do not guarantee they will see walk-ins. Schedule your appointment. You must complete this test within 48 hours. There are no extensions or grace periods. 
• Note: If you are scheduling a Thursday interview, be aware that Quest has limited Saturday hours.
• Background Check: You will receive an email asking you to complete a background check from HireRight. Prompt completion of this form allows the check to begin.

Step 4: Vote

Once we have received your drug test and background check results, your application will be forwarded to the Board of Directors for review. If approved for probationary membership, you will be contacted by the Secretary via email with the next steps. The typical turnaround time on an application is 2-4 weeks.
